"Monster Island," The Asylum's 2019 mockbuster, was released around the same time that "Godzilla: King of the Monsters". It's about a mysterious island called Monster Island. There, a monster lives. And the monster is, in some way, the island.


This movie is about an asylum. The budget for it is the same as a big child's meal, and it uses it (right here) sparingly. It is focused on a handful of human characters. All the scenes can be shot during lunch break on one set. It is a kaiju movie and that's just how they do, so perhaps The Asylum won’t do such an awful job.
